Urban Agriculture: First Harvest of 2015

If you are a regular reader of this blog, you may already know that Urban Agriculture is one of the areas that are often exposed at "O Mundo de Mikey". To find out more and to read the previous posts about our little farming experience you can click here.

Today was time to harvest some veggies:
  • Cherry Tomatoes
  • Chillies
  • Oregano
  • Rocket
  • Chives

We are always happy to see the results of our dedication especially when it is a successful harvest like this one.

Urban Agriculture & Harvesting your own goods

The positive:
  • Fresh products
  • You know where the goods came from and how they were produced
  • Learn new skills
  • More independence
  • You feel good about yourself
  • You are able to produce your own food

The not so positive:
  • May bring bugs into your balcony
  • May bring birds into your balcony (i.e. they may eat bugs, small fruits and veggies)
  • You need dedication and time
  • Mistakes will happen
  • Going on vacations means that there will be a drought
  • Investment in pots, fertilisers, natural bug spray, etc....
